Each week at Jackson's new school they focus on a different "Life Skill". Each Friday during their assembly one student from each class is awarded the Star Student award from their teacher by exhibiting that life skill.
Today, our boy was chosen as the Star from his class. The life skill he was nominated for was Trustworthiness. Each teacher stands at the podium in front of all the teachers, students and some parents and tells why their student deserves the award. It was so awesome to hear such wonderful things being said about our Jackson. I couldn't see his face, but I'm sure he was smiling shyly as his teacher talked about him. When it was time for him to take the stage, he hurried up and received a big hug from his teacher (who is actually a substitute while his real teacher is on her honeymoon, but he really likes the sub).
I'm so proud of Jackson! The transition to the new school hasn't been easy, but he has been so brave and gets braver every day. He's such a good kid and really is very trustworthy. I'm proud that his teacher noticed this about him as well. As a parent, you know how awesome your kid is. When you send them off to school you worry that their teacher may not see them for all their awesomeness. When you catch glimpses that they do, it is such a relief.
Way to go, Jackson. You ARE a Star!!
Don't you think the substitute looks a little like Julia Child?
