Valuable lessons learned on a Thursday

This morning we went, with some of our friends, to learn some valuable lessons. We learned from an ant and a grasshopper the importance of balancing fun and work. We learned from a lion and a mouse that everyone is important no matter how small they are. And from a fox we learned to accept that sometimes there are things we just can't have. Oh, and from a little shepherd we learned the importance of telling the truth and from a little pink pig we learned that we are all special just the way we are.

In Kilgore right now they are putting on the Texas Shakespeare Festival. As part of that they did Aesop's Fables for the kids. It was wonderful. It was a mixture of actors and puppets. The show was fun, and funny and the kids really enjoyed it. The actors were every animated and silly. I liked that we could talk about what we'd learned after we got home and they could recall some of the things the actors or the puppets said or did. It was a great way to spend a Thursday morning.

Caroline refused to be in the picture. Even after I made mention of a treat.

After the play the actors all came out and sat at the edge of the stage to sign autographs. Jackson and Caroline were shy and unsure at first. Jackson didn't really get over that, but by the third actor we met, Caroline was fine handing them her program to sign and telling them her name. It was a really neat experience for all of us. I hope we get another opportunity like this again soon.
